The Cleveland Cavaliers have totally rebuilt their roster at the NBA Trade Deadline, essentially gutting their roster which was imploding, and surrounding LeBron James and Kevin Love with new players. First the Cavs traded big offseason acquisition Isaiah Thomas (along with Channing Frye and a first round pick) to the Lakers I’m exchange for guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Larry Nance Jr. The Cavs then completed a three team trade, which landed them guard George Hill from the Kings and guard Rodney Hood from the Jazz, and sending Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose to Utah and Iman Shumpert to the Kings. Finally the Cavs traded Dwyane Wade back to his home, shipping him to Miami, for a second round pick. Wow. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around this, but the Cavaliers have greatly improved LeBron James’ supporting cast, while keeping their most important asset the Brooklyn Nets 2018 first round pick.
I’ve never seen a full rebuild at the trade deadline before. To break it down:
OUT: Dwyane Wade, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, Cavs own 2018 first round pick
IN: Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr, George Hill, Rodney Hood, Heat second round pick
