These videos come to us off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and they show the aftermath of a great white shark killed by a seal, just feet away from a large group of surfers. The great white shark, which was estimated to be fifteen-feet-long, attacked the seal just twenty to thirty feet off of the beach. The horrified surfers reacted with panic, because they just saw the blood in the water and assumed the shark had killed a surfer, the people on the beach did not calm down until they completed a headcount of the surfers and someone was able to film the remains of a seal carcass floating in the water. I think that this video is a positive for sharks, because in an ocean full of human surfers, the shark was able to pick out and kill its natural prey the seal. No mistaken identity for this shark. Off the coast of Massachusetts everyone must be careful in the ocean, about ten years ago seals were highly endangered, and there were very few great white sharks in the water. However, over the last decade, the protected deals bounced back and almost immediately their natural predators the great white sharks bounced back too. As one of my friends who owns a boat off the coast of Massachusetts told me, great whites are very common to see off the coast, so be safe out there Massholes. Despite this large shark being excellent at finding a needle in a haystack, and picking off a seal in a sea full of humans, but in murky water the shark might make a mistake.
