I was listening to The Fighter And The Kid podcast today, when host Brendan Schaub mentioned a documentary called “Prison Fighters: Five Rounds To Freedom”, which chronicles prisoners in Thailand who compete in a tournament with the winner earning their freedom. Many of the pensioners in Thailand spend their days training Muay Thai, because no matter the crime that convicted of, the winner of these tournaments gets released. The prison fights are a state sponsored rehabilitation program, and the winner is resolved of his crimes, and released back into public. The documentary follows convicted murderer Noy Khaopan, who is serving time at Khao Prik Prison, as he fights his way through a tournament with freedom being his goal. No more spoilers, drop what you are doing, watch the documentary now. We here at SportSmasher.com have no affiliation with the documentary or Showtime, but recommend it, because it’s awesome.
P.S. You just know Sylvester Stallone is writing a script for the movie version of Prison Fighters right now, let’s get Jason Statham and The Rock involved, came appearances by Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.
