The Dallas Cowboys released three time Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant, and after the team informed him of his release, Dez Bryant apparently said “see you guys twice this year” to team officials. He then reconfirmed his desire to stay in the NFC East and face his former team twice a year. So if Dez Bryant does get his wish and stays in the NFC East, where does he end up? I would have to think, for Dez Bryant, the most attractive destination would be the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. While the Eagles have Alston Jeffery as a number one wide receiver, they do not have much depth behind him, with players like Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins and Mike Wallace rounding out the depth chart. Dez Bryant would not seem to make sense in Washington, the Redskins will run a conservative offense with Alex Smith under center which Dez Bryant would not seem to fit, but Dan Snyder cannot resist overpaying stars so the Redskins could be an option. Dez Bryant signing with the New York Giants would surprise me, the Giants seem to be stuck between rebuilding and trying to contend in 2018, and if they really think they can make another Super Bowl run with Eli Manning then Dez in New York opposite Odell Beckham Jr could make sense. So if it’s really about revenge, Dez Bryant will have options in the NFC East, however it’s expected that he will have much more lucrative offers outside the division. Keep an eye on the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets and Oakland Raiders.
