PWinsiderFormer WCW and IWGP Heavyweight Champion Leon “Big Van Vader” White passed away Monday 618 at 7:25 PM due to complications of pneumonia. White’s death was announced via his official Twitter account by his son Jesse White.
Sad news to report, as professional wrestling legend Big Van Vader aka Leon White has passed away from complications of pneumonia, after several years of health problems. Vader was a athletic super heavyweight, he became a legend in Japan, and was a star in WCW, and captured the World Heavyweight Championship in both places. He also had a less successful but memorable run in the WWF, and returned to the WWE in 2012 to impressively squash Heath Slater, looking great in the process. Known as “The Man Known Only As Vader” or “The Mastodon” or “Big Van Vader” or simply “Vader” Leon White was a charismatic super heavyweight who was one of the first big men to perform high flying maneuvers like the “Vadersault” or the “Vaderbomb”. Also, who could forget Vader’s massive helmet that he wore during his entrance and shot smoke, or “It’s time! It’s time! It’s Vader Time!” Rest In Peace Vader, a true professional wrestling legend, who will never be forgotten.
