Just horrible news this morning, celebrity chef and world traveler Anthony Bourdain is dead of an apparent suicide at the age of 61, after being found unresponsive in a hotel in France while filming an episode of his hit show Parts Unknown. While there was a lot of substance abuse and darkness in his past, The man was a world traveler, a gifted storyteller, a chef and a rock star at the same time. Anthony Bourdain seemed to be in an excellent place in recent years, he was incredibly successful and had been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu often. As a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner myself, I know that it’s a tight knit community, and while I never met Bourdain myself I have many close friends that trained with him and loved him. He was, by all accounts, a great guy. Extremely interesting, incredibly respectful, and the fact that he took his own life in a time when he seemed to be in such a good place is shocking. Rest In Peace Anthony Bourdain.
