DailyMail Professional wrestler Jeff Hardy has been arrested for driving while impaired, according to officials in North Carolina. The 40-year-old WWE star crashed his car in Concord on Saturday at about 10.30pm, his arrest report shows. He ‘ran off the roadway to the right, in turn striking about 105ft of guardrail, before the back end of the car spun out 90 degrees to the left, coming to rest in the middle of the right northbound lane of travel’, the report states. Cabarrus County Court records show he will appear before a judge on April 16 and has already had his driving license revoked for at least 30 days. The crash caused $8,000 of damage to his 2016 Cadillac and $5,000 to a guardrail, according to a police estimate reported by CBSSports. It is not known whether Hardy was hurt in the crash, but he was released from jail not long after being charged and does not appear to have been sent to hospital.
Former two time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, who has also won the WWE Intercontinental Title four times and is a seven time WWE Tag Team Champion with his brother Matt Hardy, was arrested in North Carolina this weekend when he crashed into a guard rail and totaled his 2016 Cadillac Escalade. Jeff Hardy was arrested for driving while impaired, he caused $5,000 worth of damage to the guardrail, and another $8,000 to his vehicle. Jeff Hardy has had a long history with substance abuse, and it is unknown what substances he was on that caused this crash and arrest, but it does not appear that Hardy was drunk or he would have been arrested for DWI. Could Hardy have just been under the influence of medication needed following a recent shoulder surgery? While Jeff Hardy has been injured, his brother Matt Hardy has transformed his “Broken” Matt Hardy character that was so successful in TNA into “Woken” Matt Hardy, and has had a successful feud with Bray Wyatt which is ongoing. It was to be expected that, once healthy, Jeff Hardy would be inserted into this feud as his “Brother Nero” character but this arrest could change those plans. Based on his previous issues with substance abuse, Jeff Hardy must be on some sort of zero tolerance policy for this run in the WWE, so it will be interesting to see if he is released from his contract due to this arrest.
