The XFL is back! WWE Founder and Chairman Vincent Kennedy McMahon announced that the XFL will return in January of 2020, and with Vince McMahon himself as the lone investor, it his alternative football league fails again McMahon admits that the failure will be all his fault. McMahon feels that when the XFL failed in 2001, there were too many decision makers involved, now McMahon is the man and can run things his way. McMahon claims that many of the gimmicks that made the original XFL cartoonist would be gone, the new XFL would be more focused on the football, and not the storylines or cheerleaders. McMahon already has one very high profile athlete interested in the XFL, former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel, who was an NFL Draft bust in part due to substance abuse problems. Johnny Football would draw plenty of eyeballs to the XFL, one problem, Vince McMahon said “We are evaluating a player based on many things, including the quality of human being they are. If you have any sort of criminal record or commit a crime you aren’t playing in this league.” Manziel of course has a criminal record, but he quickly sent Vince McMahon a Tweet, expressing his interest in the XFL. Interesting, Johnny Football and the XFL seem like a match made in heaven, maybe Vince McMahon makes an exception for an athlete who can generate as much buzz for the XFL as Manziel.
Note: Hey Vince McMahon, no gimmicks? Really? None? Come on, I’ll believe it when I see it from this guy:
