ESPNThe Milwaukee Bucks fired head coach Jason Kidd on Monday, the team announced. Assistant Joe Prunty will coach the team Monday night against the Phoenix Suns. He will be named interim coach, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Milwaukee Bucks fans have been clamoring for head coach Jason Kidd to be fired for weeks and weeks, but I was always dubious that it would ever happen, because of the rumored tight relationship between Kidd and Bucks ownership. When Jason Kidd was the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and he left the franchise high and dry for the Bucks despite the Bucks still had head coach Larry Drew in place, it was rumored that a deal was struck between Kidd and Bucks ownership over many cocktails at their wealthy person beach club in The Hamptons. I thought that despite pressure from their fans, the Bucks would never fire Jason Kidd, based on their relationship with ownership and the fact that the Bucks had to trade two second round picks (2015, 2019) to acquire Kidd’s coaching services in the first place. Bucks fans are elated today, Jason Kidd is gone, and Bucks management has proved me wrong.
