Just awful news out of Washington State University this morning, as 21-year-old quarterback Tyler Hilinski was found dead in his apartment of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Hilinski was shot in the head, a rifle was found next to his body, and a suicide note was found in the room. Hilinski was a redshirt sophomore on the Washington State Cougars football team, he played in eight games this season, including starting the team’s bowl game versus Michigan State, he completed 72.6 percent of his pass attempts for 1,176 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions. We at SportSmasher.com are extremely saddened by this news, our thoughts are with Hilinski’s family at this difficult time, as well as his Washington State teammates. Suicide is never the answer, there is always a better way out no matter how bad of a situation you’re in, please get help if you have feelings of self harm.
