Sad news out of California this morning, as the voice of college football the legendary Keith Jackson has passed away at the age of 89, surrounded by his loved ones. Keith Jackson is famous for his “Whoa, Nellie!” call, he announced countless big college games over the years, and his voice is ingrained over many of the most iconic plays in the history of the sport. In addition to college football, Keith Jackson called many other sports for ABC including including Major League Baseball, NBA basketball, boxing, auto racing, PGA Tour golf and the USFL. He called the first email Monday Night Football game for ABC, and the entire first season, in 1970. However, it’s college football that Keith Jackson will most be remembered for, there are too many memorable calls to list but Keith Jackson was part of the fabric of the sport. Rest In Peace, Keith Jackson, you are part of history and will never be forgotten.
