Cam Newton: “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes.”
— Max Marcilla (@MMarcilla98) October 4, 2017
During a press conference, a female reporter asked Cam Newton about Devin Funchess embracing the physicality of his routes, so Cam Newton smiled and said “It’s funny hearing a female talk about routes” which naturally made the Internet explode. Many women, and “male feminists” who are trying to be heroes so woman will like them, accused Newton of being sexist for not taking a female reporter’s questions seriously. Hey everyone, women do not play football, so all Cam Newton was saying is he did not expect a female reporter to question him about the physicality of his receiver’s routes. It could be viewed as a complement, nice question, you really know your stuff. If Cam Newton asked the reporter “Is that a Louis Vuitton purse?” and the woman responded “Its funny hearing a man ask about purses” would she be faced with the same amount of outrage? Would she be labeled a sexist pig? I think not. We are all so sensitive, and the second a public figure says something that could be misconstrued as sexist or racist or homophobic, the Internet social justice warriors go into attack mode. Just look at a few examples of the reactions on Twitter below, this is what’s known as fake outrage, folks:
Every male sportswriter in America should speak out against Cam Newton’s sexist statements against one of our colleagues.

Remember that time back in 2008 when Cam Newton was arrested for FELONY charges on burglary, larceny, & obstruction of justice? Yeah, you heard that right, 3 major felony charges & now he's back trending for making sexist comments. This is a terrible human being. Terrible. pic.twitter.com/SE5DRitL7w

Brutal, sexist answer from Cam Newton in response to good question from female reporter. And the body language was just as bad. https://t.co/NEgvTd6sVh

Thanks #CamNewton for reminding us that the NFL is full of sexist pricks who think females are mindless accessories.
