In a much anticipated race to kick off Shark Week 2017, a great white shark defeated Michael Phelps in an 100 meter swim, with the great white shark finishing the race in 36.1 seconds and Phelps finishing in 38.1 seconds. Phelps was close, only losing by two seconds, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Congratulations to the great white shark on its victory! Earlier in the episode, Phelps also lost to a great hammerhead shark, and edged a reef shark for his only win. Michael Phelps, you may be the fastest human of all-time in the water, but matched up against a shark you've got nothing.
Note: Of course Michael Phelps did not actually have a shark swimming in the lane next to him, he would have been eaten alive, the shark was timed first and it was a simulation.
