The Golden State Warriors got revenge on the Cleveland Cavaliers after blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals, and defeated the Cavs in five games this time around, to win the 2017 NBA Championship. The difference? The Warriors now have Kevin Durant, who if you were unaware, is quite an upgrade over Harrison Barnes. Durant was dominant in the Finals, his efficiency had NBA stat nerds drooling, as he routinely came through whenever the Warriors needed a basket. Durant was ridiculed all season long, for leaving a pretty good situation in Oklahoma City with Russell Westbrook to create a “super team” in Golden State, and for saying “if you can’t beat the Warriors, join them.” While I still do not like super teams, Durant now has his first ring, so his questionable decision has been vindicated. Congratulations to the Warriors, two rings in three years is a big deal, and when you think about it they are a Kyrie Irving game seven three pointer in 2016 away from a three peat.
