The Philadelphia Eagles had a major void at running back, with only smaller backs like Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood on the roster, so they filled that void today when they signed power back LeGarrette Blount to a one year deal. Blount gives the Eagles a back that can move piles, pick up tough yardage between the tackles, and who is valuable in the red zone. Blount led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 2016 with 18, and he ran for 1.161 yards, good for eighth in the NFL.
UPDATE: ProFootballTalk The Eagles announced on Wednesday that they have signed Blount. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the deal is worth up to $2.8 million for the 2017 season while Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Cardinals also showed interest in Blount before he made his deal with Philly.
