NYDailyNews It looks like Jose Reyes likes to pull off a double-play off the field as well. Reyes’ ex-girlfriend Christina Sanchez says the struggling third baseman’s on-the-field problems are due to a guilty conscience over the six-year affair he had with her and over their 7-year-old daughter Liyah, whom she says, he abandoned. According to Sanchez, who’s suing Reyes for a significant increase in child support, she and her daughter were Reyes’ “road family” while he raised a separate family back home during his tenure with the Mets, the Miami Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays. “We’d go to restaurants, go to games, go shopping, that was the life I was living,” Sanchez told the Daily News, saying that she now regrets that the affair went on as long it did. “It was a double life, but I wanted him to be a father of our child.” Sanchez and her attorney Steven Gildin were in court on April 3 with Reyes’ legal team, who asked for a gag order, which Sanchez suspects was to keep her from giving details of the secret life she says she had with Reyes after he married Katherine Ramirez in July 2008. Reyes and Ramirez now have three daughters. “I’d go to games, we had everything we wanted, he treated us amazing,” she said. Sanchez also said that traveling around the world and going to Disney World with a “private VIP escort” is a lifestyle that Liyah was led to believe she’d always have. Sanchez claims that a lot of Reyes’ teammates had wives at home and girlfriends on the road, but she wouldn’t name names. The up-and–coming singer even says that she met her daughter’s godmother, who remains a friend, when that woman was dating one of Reyes’ teammates. According to Sanchez, she was romantically linked to Reyes before he got married and didn’t know she was the proverbial other woman until she read about the wedding in the papers. But even after she found out, Sanchez claims she continued the relationship until late 2015, which is also when Reyes was arrested for domestic abuse against Ramirez. Whether or not Reyes’ wife knew about the affair, she doesn’t know. Sanchez says the last time she or her daughter saw Reyes was Christmas 2015. “I knew once I stopped having sex with Jose he’d stop seeing our daughter,” she lamented. “I knew it! I didn’t want to be his mistress the rest of my life. I couldn’t do that.” Sanchez claims that part of the reason she’s asking for Reyes to raise child support payments from the $11,000 to $41,000 a month is because her singing career, which she says has finally gotten on track now that she has a recording contract and an album in the works, was put on hold during their relationship. “He was so jealous. I don’t think he wanted me getting too much attention,” she said. “He would say ‘how are you going to be an artist when you have to raise our daughter?’ Just because I’m a mom doesn’t mean I don’t want to pursue my dreams.” Sanchez believes Reyes’ struggles on the field — where he has just three hits in his 38 at-bats, has struck 11 times and was benched for the start of Thursday night’s game for Bronx product T.J. Rivera — might go away if he steps up to the plate and gets involved in his daughter’s life again. “I think so,” she said. “When you’re a father you’re going to have something in the back of your mind bugging you. You have to be broken inside to shun your own flesh and blood. If he does the right thing… we all make mistakes, I apologize to his wife, I as a woman want to apologize to another woman for what I did. But he hurt both of us.” Sanchez says she’s rooting for Reyes to turn his fortunes around and not just so he can pay child support. “That’s the father of my (child),” she said. “I want him to be successful.” Reps for Reyes declined to comment.
Jose Reyes made a huge mistake, he knocked up a gold digger groupie, who now is looking for her fifteen minutes of fame by dishing about his personal life to the media. Christina Sanchez is asking for a whopping increase in child support payments from Reyes, the baseball star currently pays her $11,000 per month to take care of their daughter, but Sanchez thinks she deserves $41,000 in child support. Christina Sanchez says that her relationship with Reyes derailed her singing career, but not that her career is back on track, she deserves $492,000 in child support per year! $492,000! Christina Sanchez, you were already doing damn well at $132,000 per year in child support, now you are just being greedy. Did you know that the mean American household income is $55,775? But you are hot, so you got impregnated by a rich guy, and you deserve nearly half-a-million dollars per year? Does your baby need solid gold bottles? Diamond encrusted diapers? I say the judge should knock Christina Sanchez down to $5,000 per month in child support for making such a ridiculous request.
