The Memphis Grizzlies were (-12.5) favorites against the New York Knicks last night, and wiry they Grizzlies up by ten points and the final seconds of the game ticking away, Grizzlies rookie Wade Baldwin IV was dribbling out the clock and having a casual conversation with the referee. With a second left, Baldwin launched an unguarded three pointer from 41-feet out, which swished, causing gamblers worldwide to collectively lose their minds. If you had the Knicks +12.5 you were devastated, if you had the Grizzlies -12.5 you were elated, and to add insult to injury Wade Baldwin IV is just shooting 14.3% (3-21) on the year. Maybe Wade Baldwin IV was confident going into this game, took his Grizzlies, but with a gambling loss on the horizon took matters into his own hands in the final seconds.
UPDATE: It was expected that Knicks veterans would not be happy about Wade Baldwin IV and his last second shot, and after the game, Courtney Lee spoke out:
Courtney Lee on Wade Baldwin’s last second shot: “Nobody’s getting hype for you bro. Nobody’s going to remember you or that shot.”
