WSPA A Wise County inmate is now facing additional charges after deputies said he escaped the justice center and stole a truck. According to the Wise County Virginia Sheriff’s Office, Travis Scott Pratt, 39, was in custody of the Norton Police Department when he escaped while outside of the Wise County Justice Center. The officer from the Norton Police Department chased Pratt and officers from the UVA-Wise Police and Wise Police Departments assisted. Another deputy from Wise County, Josh Edmiston, was in the area en-route to help, when he saw a blue Dodge truck on Christmas Lane speeding and driving recklessly. Deputy Edmiston turned and tried to stop the truck. While chasing the truck, empty beer cans were flying from the truck bed, leaving a trail. Deputy Edmiston followed the trail of beer cans and located the truck in a driveway on Pole Bridge Road. The driver of the vehicle noticed the deputy and sped off, driving through several yards then back onto the highway. The Sheriff’s Office said Pratt was the driver of the truck and jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran. Deputies were able to capture Pratt and take him back into custody. Someone in the neighborhood was able to stop the truck that was still moving. Deputies determined that Pratt stole the truck from Christmas Lane. He is back in custody and additional charges are now pending.
I once knew a guy who was drunk driving in the middle of the night, when he fell asleep behind the wheel, and crashed into a restaurant. Luckily, the restaurant was closed, and nobody was injured. The guy woke up, threw the car in reverse, drove home and went to sleep. The next morning, he woke up to the cops arresting him on multiple charges, because when he crashed into the restaurant a tank in his car was punctured and he was leaking fluid on his drive home. The cops saw the fluid and followed the trail, which led them right to this guy’s house, where he was arrested.
The moral of the story is never leave a trail, if you are trying to stay off the radar, cover your tracks.
A guy named Travis Scott Pratt escaped from jail in Virginia, he steals a truck, but he did not realize that the owner of the stolen truck liked to party and the bed of the truck was full of empty beer cans. Empty beer cans flew out of the back of the truck bed as he drove to his hideout, and cops followed the empty beer can trail right to Travis Scott Pratt, where he was quickly recaptured.
The only time that you should leave a trail is if you are trekking through the outback, you always leave a trail, in case you get lost or disoriented when you get mauled by a bear and have to retrace your steps to find civilization.
Other than that, never leave a trail, even a cyber trail. Go clear your internet history right now so your significant other does not see all the weird shit you have been looking at. Then bookmark SportSmasher.com and/or add us to your favorites.
