New team president Magic Johnson is handling the trade deadline for the Los Angeles Lakers, and today he made his first move, shipping former NBA Sixth Man of the Year guard Lou Williams to the Houston Rockets, in exchange for forward Corey Brewer and a first round draft pick. The Cavs, Wizards and Hornets were all involved in discussions with the Lakers for Lou Williams, but ultimately they decided they would not do better then a contract that ends in 2018 and a first round pick so they pulled the trigger. Lou Williams immediately gives the Rockets more firepower off the bench, as well as insurance, as both Patrick Beverly and Eric Gordon have been dealing with nagging injuries over recent weeks. Lou Williams will thrive in Houston’s fast paced style, his game is tailor made for D’Antoni ball, and he makes the Rockets more dangerous come playoff time.
