DailyMail A man in China was killed by a tiger after he tried to climb the fence in a bid to avoid paying for his entrance ticket. The incident occurred at the Youngor Wildlife Park in the city of Ningbo, around 200 kilometres (125 miles) south of Shanghai on January 29. The zoo has since released a statement saying that the man surnamed Zhang and his friend had scaled the wall of the enclosure to gain free access to the park. The statement said: “Zhang and Li climbed over a three-metre wall from the northwest side of the zoo, ignoring signs along the wire fence, before scaling over another three-metres into the tiger enclosure.’ The statement also said that the men brought their wives and children to the zoo however they paid for their entrance fee whereas the two men did not. According to the South China Morning Post, entrance to the zoo costs up to 130 yuan (£15) for adults and 70 yuan (£8) for children. Video footage emerged online of the tiger dragging the man under some trees and sinking its teeth into his neck as two other big cats lurked behind. Zoo visitors raised the alarm soon after he was attacked by the predator but it took zoo staff about an hour to grapple the man from the tiger’s firm grip, according to local reports. The tigers were eventually driven away by firecrackers and a water cannon, said a report in the Beijing Youth Daily, which added that the man was rushed to hospital but later died. One tiger in the enclosure was shot dead by local forestry bureau staff. One witness said the tiger wouldn’t allow the man escape: ‘I saw the tiger mauling the person, whose face was covered with blood. Every time he sat up, the tiger pushed him down again.’
If you decide to scale the wall of a zoo to avoid paying admission, you had better be one hundred percent sure that you have done your research, and are sure what is on the other side of the fence you are scaling. In China, a man scaled the wall of a zoo so that he would not have to pay for admission, but he ended up in the tiger enclosure and was instantly mauled to death in front of horrified spectators. The zoo is not the type of place to pull stunts like this, but if you are dumb enough to scale a wall and leap into a zoo without looking at what creature could be on the other side, it could be a fatal mistake. Make sure you are going to land on a footpath, or in the peacock enclosure, if you land in the tiger pit it’s curtains for your cheap ass.
P.S. I feel like, since it was this cheap man’s dumb mistake that got him killed, he deserved what he got. It was a bad plan to begin with, it was poorly executed, and it got him killed. One of the tigers was also killed, but in situations like this, I feel like the tiger should have been rewarded with a big meal. The tiger was killed for behaving like a tiger.
