It said it right on the UFC 207 poster, “She’s back!”, but Ronda Rousey’s much hyped return to the UFC lasted just 48 seconds and she was knocked out on her feet by hard hitting UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes. It seemed like Ronda Rousey was not even attempting to protect herself, she ate punch after punch, and did not even put her hands up. The Ronda Rousey situation is the first time we have seen it in women’s combat sports, but it reminds me of Mike Tyson or Chuck Liddell, once a monster gets knocked out their confidence is shattered. The intimidation factor is gone. The puzzle is solved, they know it, and their opponent knows it. This seems to be what happened in the case of Ronda Rousey, and I would guess that she retires, and sticks to acting or joins the WWE to begin her career away from the octagon.
