TMZ Tampa Bay Bucs tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was arrested in Tampa early Friday morning after cops say he was drunkenly weaving through traffic and driving at a high rate of speed. Seferian-Jenkins was stopped by Florida Highway Patrol around 4 AM after cops say he was driving 25 MPH over the speed limit … and cut off one of their officers. According to police, ASJ refused to take a blood alcohol test. He was arrested for driving under the influence. Seferian-Jenkins was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail … where he is currently being booked. This isn’t ASJ’s first time arrested for driving drunk … he was busted for DUI in March 2013.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was arrested for DUI at 4am this morning, as he was speeding and drunkenly weaving through traffic, in Tampa not far from where the Bucs play a home game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. This is not the first issue with the law for Austin Seferian-Jenkins, he had red flags for character concerns when he came out of the University of Washington in 2014, due to a 2013 DUI arrest that led to a one game suspension. Getting a DUI when you are a wealthy professional athlete and has plenty of other options, such as Uber or Lyft or paying a friend to stay sober and drive your car, is just plain stupid. What makes this DUI even worse is, Austin Seferian-Jenkins decided to get behind the wheel drunk midseason, just days before a home game that should be his focus when the Bucs are paying him millions of dollars to be prepared for an opponent.
UPDATE: Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been released by the Buccaneers.
