The NFL and Twitter combined to announce official hashtags for each NFL team, and if you use these hashtags you get an official team emoji, however most of the hashtags are absolutely terrible. Many of the teams, such as the #Jaguars, #Chiefs, #Broncos, #Patriots and #Chargers were totally uncreative, they just used the team name as the official hashtag. The Cowboys are using the full team name #DallasCowboys which is also uninspired. The 49ers and the Bills just added “Go” in front of the team name to create a hashtag. Meanwhile several teams are using bizarre phrases, like the Colts #ForTheShoe, the Rams #MobSquad and the Buccaneers #SeigeTheDay which are impossible to remember especially after 11 beers. These hashtags should have been standardized and easy to remember, so fans around the globe can use them quickly and without too much thought, since there is a lot of drunk Tweeting going on during NFL Sundays. Bad job by the NFL and Twitter on this hashtag project, now when I want to Tweet about the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, I’ll have to look for this post to figure out that their official hashtag is #WeAre12 for some reason.(I know, the 12th man, I get it).
P.S. I thought the #WeAre12 was the official Patriots hashtag at first to show solidarity with Tom Brady during his suspension.
