NYDailyNews The timing suggests a celebration gone terribly wrong for Lawrence Taylor. The Giants legend was only one day removed from probation when he allegedly crashed his sedan into a patrol car and bombed the sobriety test. According to the Palm Beach County police report obtained by TMZ, Taylor, who was arrested for DUI, reeked of alcohol and cigars when he was pulled over Friday at 5:22 p.m. Additional details of the report don’t bode well for Taylor’s innocence. When the officer asked about their location, Taylor incorrectly stated, “Broward,” which is a county in Florida about an hour away from the crash scene. Then when asked how much he drank, Taylor allegedly answered, “Apparently too much.” The 57-year-old also told police that he suffered an injury and felt like vomiting, leading to an ambulance ride and a brief stay at the hospital, according to the report. Five hours after the crash, the police say they took two breathalyzer samples from Taylor registering at .082 and .084; the legal limit in the state is .08. He was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail and is due back in court at the end of September. According to TMZ, Taylor had wrapped up his six-year probation from a sexual misconduct conviction just 24 hours prior. He pled guilty to that charge in 2010 — and was declared a sex offender — after hiring and bedding an underage prostitute. The victim was a week shy of 17, the legal age of consent, when she met Taylor at a Holiday Inn in Rockland County. If Taylor had been arrested for the DUI while still on probation, he could’ve faced jail time. Taylor is widely regarded as one of the best defensive players of all-time in the NFL, having won two Super Bowls with the Giants while collecting 132.5 sacks over 13 seasons. His life after football hasn’t been so glorious, however, marred with run-ins with the police. An admitted cocaine user, Taylor was twice arrested for trying to buy crack. In June, his wife was arrested in Florida for domestic violence after throwing an “unknown object” that left a three-inch gash in Taylor’s head. On Friday, Taylor allegedly sideswiped the patrol car and damaged its side mirror.
The latest arrest for New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor came in Florida last Friday, when he sideswiped a police car, and got arrested for DUI. After the crash, Lawrence Taylor did not know where in Florida he was, LT thought he was in Broward county which is over an hour away from the site of the crash. LT was taken to the hospital, and was not breathalyzed until almost five hours after the crash, when he still failed a breathalyzer. It’s not like a DUI is out of character, Lawrence Taylor was a savage on the field, and behaves the same way off the field.
