Legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman has been the lead color comentator for Fox’s NFL coverage since 2001, and when Fox hired former ESPN talking head Skip Bayless to join their roster, Troy Aikman became irate. The feud between Aikman and Bayless dates back to when Bayless was a reporter for the Dallas Morning News (1979-1998), when in the Bayless authored book “Hell Bent: The Crazy Truth About the “Win or Else” Dallas Cowboys”, Bayless insinuated that Troy Aikman was gay. When Aikman’s longtime employer Fox Sports recently hired Skip Bayless, Aikman voiced his disappointment, saying the following in an interview with Sports Illustrated:
“To say I’m disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement,” Aikman said. “Clearly, [Fox Sports president of national networks] Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless.”
Troy Aikman, of course, is not gay. He was once married to Rhonda Worthey from 2000-2012 and has two daughters with her. He has dated actresses Sandra Bullock and Janine Turner, and most recently, gorgeous blond bombshell model Tracy Rispin. Troy Aikman was apparently so upset with Fox Sports hiring of Skip Bayless that he strongly considered quitting, but eventually decided against it, he will remain Fox’s lead NFL color commentator and will call his fifth Super Bowl for the network in February.
