WDRB Jerry Lawler, the self-proclaimed “King of Wrestling,” was arrested early Friday. Lawler, 66, and his fiancee, 27-year-old fiancee, Lauryn McBride are both charged with domestic assault. Police were called to their home in east Memphis last night after the two allegedly assaulted each other. McBride told police Lawler hit her in the head and shoved her against a stove. Lawler says McBride kicked him in the groin and scratched him in the face. Lawler is well-known to pro wrestling fans. During his 40-year career, he wrestled at events at the Louisville Gardens many times.
The legendary Jerry “The King” Lawler did not share the same vices that got many of his contemporaries in the wrestling business killed over the years, drugs and booze, but The King does have one vice that continues to get him into trouble, and that’s younger women. Jerry Lawler has been married three times, and Lauryn McBride who was set to become his third wife is 39-years his junior, who was involved in this unfortunate domestic violence incident which led to both of their arrests. It is never okay to put your hands on a woman, and I would not be surprised if the longtime WWE announcer is suspended, or even fired as a result of this arrest.
NOTE: The WWE has announced that Lawler had been suspended indefinitely.
