Despite my wishes, my days as a member of the Chicago Bears have sadly come to an end. I was informed earlier this week from the GM that they will not be attempting to re-sign me in free agency. I will remain forever grateful for my time spent in Chicago and being able to play for an organization with such a rich history. My only regret is not being able to win a Lombardi trophy for the best fans in all of sports. I’m excited about the next chapter of my NFL career. But, Chicago will always be home. God Bless and Bear Down!
Matt Forte has been a fixture on the offensive side of the ball with the Chicago Bears since the team selected him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, but earlier this week Forte was informed by General Manager Ryan Pace that the team will make no effort to sign him in free agency, and that Forte will be playing elsewhere in 2016. The Two-Time Pro Bowl running back wrote this heartfelt post to Bears fans on Instagram, informing them of the situation, and thanking them for their support over the years. A classy move by the 30-year-old Forte, who slowed down a bit in 2015, but who can still contribute at a high level to an NFL team especially due to his excellent pass catching ability out of the backfield.
