I saw that New York Giants Super Fan “License Plate Guy” @LicensePlateGuy tweeted this photo earlier this morning, which shows him wearing a Philadelphia Eagles jersey with “SUPERBOWLS” and the number 0, while posing with Giants cornerbacks Prince Anukamara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie as they make the “zero” hand gesture. As the two rival teams meet for the first time in 2014 on Sunday night, a laughed at LicensePlateGuy’s Twitter trash talk, and went about my day. I was shocked to learn that this has become somewhat of a national news story, which as been picked up by the sports blogosphere, and that Eagles players (and of course fans) are upset with this picture.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie confirmed that he has been receiving texts from his former Eagles teammates since the photo went viral, while Amukamara said that he was “Just doing what a fan asked for a photo” and that he had heard from Tom Coughlin about the picture.
Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who is always opinionated, said “I’m trying to think, did Prince win a Super Bowl? I know DRC didn’t.” Prince Amukamara did win a Super Bowl.
I don’t see why everyone is so fired up about this picture, it’s a fact that the Eagles have never won a Super Bowl, and I do not think Amukamara and Rodgers-Cromartie were taunting the Eagles as much as they were just posing for a photo with a fan.
However, I guess the trash talking for Sunday night’s game in Philly has officially begun, with a little help from New York Giants Super Fan License Plate Guy.
