The much awaited rematch between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and number one contender Alexander Gustafsson will have to wait, as Gustafsson was injured in training on Wednesday night, and he has been replaced with Daniel Cormier in the main event at UFC 178 on September 27th.
Although many fans, myself included, were very excited to see if Gustafsson would be able to match his performance when he took Jon Jones the distance and nearly defeated him at UFC 165, Cormier vs. Jones is also an excellent fight which has been a long time coming. Cormier is a perfect (15-0) in MMA, and has never really been put in danger during his career, the former college wrestling standout and 2008 Olympian has been nothing short of dominant. He faces Jon Jones (20-1 with the loss coming by disqualification), who has been unbeaten since he won the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship from Shogun Rua on March 19th 2011, and who has not relinquished the title since, despite facing the most elite competition mixed martial arts can offer.
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier already did not like each other, but following the announcement that they will fight at UFC 178, the trash talking has begun:
