SportingNews Russell Wilson, firmly entrenched as the starting QB of the Seattle Seahawks, has left behind his baseball career for the NFL. That didn’t stop the Texas Rangers from selecting him in Thursday’s Rule 5 draft.
Hey Texas Rangers, I think it’s time to give up on Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson as a second baseman prospect, he has led Seattle to an (11-2) record, which is tied for the best in the NFL. We here at SportSmasher.com think that Russell Wilson has officially picked football as his professional sport. We also highly doubt that the Seattle Seahawks would be cool with letting Wilson play second base for the Texas Rangers in the ALCS, except for on Sunday, when they are going to need him back to play quarterback.
Conspiracy theory: The Seahawks only pay Russell Wilson $749,193 dollars annually over the course of his for year rookie deal. Wilson decides he wants more money, in the Tom Brady salary range, and negotiations go bad. Wilson pulls a Michael Jordan, walks away from his primary sport, and is playing second base for the Rangers.
Sleep easy Seahawks fans. It’s just a thought.
