Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the New York Giants were desperate to sign a veteran running back following the turnover filled loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday, so they signed ex-Giant Brandon Jacobs.
Jacobs does not offer much as a receiver out of the backfield, but he is a huge (6’4 267lbs) running back, who should instantly help the Giants protect Eli Manning in passing situations. He also gives the Giants offense attitude, toughness, and an alternative to David Wilson and his fumbling problems.
Jacobs is now 31-years-old, and we will have to see how much he has left in the tank, considering he has not played significantly since 2011. He is a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Giants, and he knows the offense and the other personnel well, plus the coaching staff knows that he can be counted on when the Giants need a few key yards and the bullets are flying.
Welcome back, Beast!
