New York Giants running back Andre Brown suffered a broken left leg in the team’s final preseason game against the New England Patriots tonight, a devastating injury for the team, as Brown was supposed to serve as the team’s third down back and primary backup to starter David Wilson during the impending 2013 season. Brown also broke the same leg in 2012, which ended last season for him, and this injury could also be of the season ending variety. The Giants have been hit hard by the injury bug over recent weeks, starting offensive linemen David Diehl (thumb) and David Bass (knee) will miss the start of the regular season, while wide receiver Victor Cruz (bruised heel) is on the road to recovery, and starting safety Stevie Brown (knee) is out for the season. Tough early season injuries for the Giants, who limp towards the regular season opener in Dallas on Sunday, September 8th. Expect the team to be active once other teams make their final cuts next week, the Giants have a lot of holes to fill, and could use some patchwork veteran help before the season opener.
