ESPN’s First Take is a show where reporters debate sports headlines, with one reporter taking the logical side and another, usually Skip Bayless playing devils advocate on the opposite (illogical) side. This is a serious question on the show today. “Should Gregg Popovitch rest his star players in tonight’s game six of the NBA Finals?” This is completely insane. The Spurs have a 3-2 lead in a best of seven series, and have two shots to beat the Heat in a road game, and we are questioning if they should play their best players tonight? This is a new low, ESPN. The Spurs have two games left, and are champions if they win one of these games, so they should sit their stats and bank on winning a game seven on the road? Really?
P.S. I’m sure that Skip Bayless made the point that not only should the Spurs play their best players, but they should sign Tim Tebow to a two game contract and start him at small forward, because the guy is a winner. No chance the Spurs lose this series with Tebow’s leadership and intangibles on the floor.
P.P.S. I’ve said all along that this series is going seven games, commissioner David Stern will make sure it happens, so I think the Heat cruise tonight and took them (-7) forcing an epic game seven on Thursday night.
