This video was recently filmed in Florida, and it is creating a buzz across the Internet, but this Skunk Ape evidence simply doesn’t do it for me. Did the videographer smell the distinctive smell that gives the skunk ape it’s name? Did he hear any vocalization? It is a shame he did not have a better camera on him, because from this distance, the black mass is unidentifiable. It looks as though it could be the legendary skunk ape, sure, it seems to have the right size and shape. However it also looks as though it could be a hoax, a hunter in a ghillie suit, or maybe even a black bear.
To tell you the truth, the way that exotic creatures have been turning up in the wilds of Florida (Nile Crocodiles, Lemurs, Pythons) it could be anything. (LINK: Invasive Species)
Could a small population of hominids similar to Bigfoot be surviving in the depths of the Florida swamps? Highly unlikely. It would have to be extremely intelligent, it would have to stay away from people at all costs, and be very good at avoiding humans. In the deep swamps, at night, anything is possible but this looks to be a misidentification. I think that the chances of a hominid existing in the vastness Pacific Northwest is much more possible than in a densely populated humid peninsula like Florida.
