News Journal Online A St. Augustine man who stole a car, crashed it in Flagler County and try to escape on foot told deputies “I shouldn’t have ran,” according to an arrest report. Sean Allen Mulligan, 39, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Saturday and charged with grand theft auto and resisting arrest without violence, a report states. Deputies responded to Pelicer Creek Preserve, 7900 N. Old Kings Road, near the Interstate 95 overpass, after Mulligan crashed the car, a four-door Honda, deputy Harold Smith said. He got out of the driver’s side and was ordered to the ground at gunpoint, the report states. “(Mulligan) at first put his hands in the air and then began to pace and walked to the front of the vehicle and then ran north on Old Kings Road up to the overpass,” Smith said. “I commanded him to stop several times and he continued to run.” A passenger in the car, Carolyn Patricia Thornburg, whose age was not provided in the report, told deputies Mulligan is her boyfriend and that he told her he stole the car, was going to run and that she should hide, a report states. Smith, a K-9 handler, used his dog to find Mulligan in the woods “under very dense brush.” Mulligan, who was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility, was talkative. “While on the way to the hospital, Sean Mulligan stated ‘peace, love and happiness,’ amongst many other things including, ‘I shouldn’t have ran.’” Mulligan remained in the Flagler County Inmate Facility Sunday on $12,500 bail.
Hey Sean Allen Mulligan, who do you think you are, John Lennon? Last time I checked John Lennon never did any time for grand theft auto. Stealing a car then rambling about “Peace, Love and Happiness” is about the most hypocritical thing you can do. I bet the car owner was “happy” with their Honda, and would “love” to get a “piece” of Sean Allen Mulligan after he crashed it into an overpass. Add this to the ever growing list title “Why We Hate Hippies”.
Also, if you are going to steal a car Sean Allen Mulligan, why the hell would you steal a Honda? When it comes to grand theft auto, go luxury or go home, the reward should be worth the risk.
