Deadspin Free agent wide receiver Titus Young was arrested twice in 15 hours on Sunday. The first time, his black Mustang was impounded. He was later nabbed while trying to jump the tow-yard fence to retrieve his car. Just after midnight on Sunday in Moreno Valley, California, the former Detroit Lion was pulled over when he made an illegal left turn directly in front of a police cruiser. Young was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Oakland Press, which originally reported the incident, has more: He was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center and later issued a citation and released from custody. Hours later, at 2:22 p.m. that day, officers responded to a tow company yard where a man was seen jumping over the fence. It was Young looking for his black Mustang. He was arrested for burglary after the police determined he was trying to take his own vehicle. He was booked again at the same detention center. Young, 23, was cut from the Lions on February 4.
Give us at SportSmasher.com some credit. We called Titus Young Sr. a diva and a thug before anyone else (link here) and we caught a ton of flak for it at the time. I’m not one to gloat, but we were right on Young. Since that time, he punched a teammate, was suspended for head butting an opponent and was sent home before the Thanksgiving game for sabotaging the team. He was cut by the Lions, then signed and quickly cut by the Rams, and not he had been arrested twice in fifteen hours. Young Sr’s NFL career could be over, I would be surprised if any team gave this knucklehead a shot anytime soon, and he really needs to rehabilitate his image if he ever wants to play in the league again. The good news is, he is only 24-years-old, and if he turns his life around he still might have a chance.
P.S. Nice mugshot, Titus.
