The New York Knicks took game one of their opening round playoff series from the Boston Celtics with an 85-78 win over the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden led by Carmelo Anthony’s 36 points. However the real story of this game was the Knicks defense in the second half, after allowing the Celtics to score 53 points in the first half, they totally shut them down and held them to 35 points in the second half. The Celtics only managed eight points in the fourth quarter against the stout next defense. Major props go out to Kenyon Martin, who had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and played excellent defense on Kevin Garnett. Ditto for Jason Kidd, who had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and made several saavy veteran plays down the stretch. Big win for the Knicks to take a 1-0 advantage over the Celtics at the Garden. Go New York, Go New York, Go!!!
