Michigan guard Spike Albrecht did not play a lot of minutes during the regular season, he was the primary backup to National Player of the Year Trey Burke, and averaged just 2.2 points per game over the course of his freshman season.
However, in the National Championship Game last night, Burke was forced to the bench due to early foul trouble and was replaced by Albrecht. Spike took advantage of the opportunity, hitting 6-9 shots including 4-5 from downtown and scoring a season-high 17 points in Michigan’s 76-82 loss to Louisville. So close.
That means Albrecht’s confidence was sky high, and after the game the Michigan guard took to twitter to make another play, this time for Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton. Why not? Albrecht is just trying to cash in on his fifteen minutes of fame, and making a play for Upton is worth a shot.
Of course another Michigan athlete, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, who has quietly dated Upton in the past might have something to say about Albrecht’s attempt to cash in on his new found fame. Verlander has a little advantage over Albrecht, his shiny, new seven-year $180 million dollar contract. Verlander for the win.
