On the MLB Network recently, Harold Reynolds was quizzing his white co-hosts on who their favorite rappers are, and the results were surprising. Brian Kenny picks Jay-Z, a safe, easy answer. Bob Costas decided to go another route, obviously he had to give props to Ludacris, who was the first rapper to name check him in a rap song. Costas delivers this quote, “I be rolling torpedoes, get blunted with Rastas, and for a hefty fee I’m on your record, like Bob Costas.” Hilarious! It is clear that he knows what “rolling torpedoes, get blunted with Rastas” means, because first Costas says, “Ludacris is talking about himself and we do not condone this behavior.” Costas, you had our respect as a sports journalist already, but we never realized you were this funny. Good work.
