USA Today: Anquan Boldin could soon be looking for work as an NFL free agent, contrary to a previous statement by the Baltimore Ravens receiver that he would retire rather than join another team. Boldin has rejected a Ravens proposal to reduce his salary and is preparing to become an unrestricted free agent if released, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations.
This is what happens when you make Joe Flacco the highest paid QB in NFL history… you can’t afford to pay anyone else. Boldin was instrumental to the Ravens’ playoff run and Flacco’s late season success. His cap number is a little over $7M this season ($6M base salary) and with the emergence of Torrey Smith, the Ravens don’t believe Boldin is worth #1 WR dollars anymore. If cut, Bolidn will join an already crowded free agent WR market.
