Former Knicks draft pick and onetime NBA player Renaldo Balkman is playing in the Philippine Basketball Association and playing well, but he became irate after a foul in this clip, and had a mental breakdown.
Balkman went after one referee, then another, then another as his teammates attempted to hold him back. Finally as his teammates tried to calm him down, Balkman snapped, and strangled one of his teammates like Latrell Spreewell once did to P.J. Carlesimo. It’s pretty shocking video to see such an aggressive and violent act committed by Balkman towards one of his own teammates on the court.
Balkman’s future with the team and the PBA is obviously in doubt following this incident.
Balkman apologized on his twitter account:
I wld like to apologize to the fans, Petron Blaze, my teammates, the PBA and especially @tubidronald71 and @Arwind029
I got caught up in the moment of a very intense game.I respect@Arwind029 as a person & player.I am proud to be part of@PetronBlaze fam.
This was unintentional towards @arwindsotnas, I am a team player who always has the best interest of the team at heart.
