According to Howard Eskin, the Philadelphia Eagles will be releasing Nnamdi Asomugha today.

This comes a day after Chip Kelley was quoted as saying that he “didn’t know if he (Asomugha) will be there”

What a crappy signing this turned out to be. As a Jet fan, I couldn’t be happier that he snubbed us at the last minute and went to the Eagles. Cromartie turned out to be the best Free Agent CB in that class and for less money. The Eagles were reportedly working on restructuring Asomugha’s contract, but that obviously didn’t go anywhere. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is also a free agent. This release will leave the Eagles even thinner at CB and I expect will influence their draft day needs heavily.
As a side note: This could also slightly hurt the trade market for Darrelle Revis and the Jets as a CB needy team may find this to be a better solution than trading draft picks.
