Jay Glazer is reporting on Twitter that a trade that will trade quarterback Alex Smith from the San Francisco 49ers to the Kansas City Chiefs is a done deal, although the trade will not be “official” until the new league year starts on March 12th.
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can’t be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I’m told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Alex Smith, who fell out of favor in San Team after he suffered a concussion and was replaced by Colin Kaepernick, will be a huge upgrade for the Chiefs at the quarterback position.
Compensation is unclear at this time, but Glazer reports that the Chiefs “made a commitment to Smith.” The Chiefs own the first overall pick in the NFL draft.
Obviously the first pick in the draft will not be involved in this trade, and the Chiefs will draft another impact player there, so with the additions of head coach Andy Reid, quarterback Alex Smith and the first overall pick in the NFL Draft look for the Chiefs to be one of the NFLs most improved teams in 2013.
UPDATE: The 49ers will receive the Chiefs second round pick (#34 overall) and a conditional 2014 draft pick in the trade. The 49ers now have the #31 and #34 picks in the 2013 NFL Draft, and a whopping 15 total draft picks. Expect them to be very active on draft day, they will have no choice but to make trades, their roster is already deep and there is no chance 15 rookies can make this team.
Why I think the San Francisco 49ers Will Be The NFL’s Most Aggressive Team This Offseason
