It’s salary dumping day in Flohram Park. The New York Jets have announced the release of a hand full of veteran players including Bart Scott and Calvin Pace. Tebow remains on the roster at this point.
These moves were necessary for the Jets to clear cap space (they entered the day more than $20M over the cap). Today alone, the Jets have freed about $31M in cap space for the 2013 season. If they are able to restructure Mark Sanchez (as reported that they are attempting to do), this should get the Jets out of cap hell and allow focus on getting younger and cheaper at required positions. John Idzik beginning to make his mark already.
Jason Smith alone saved a boat load of money… I wouldn’t be shocked if he was resigned at a realistic salary btw. I will actually miss Calvin Pace. He had some good season and provided some of the only hustle from the outside over the past few years.
I expect that Revis is as good as gone after his NFL Network interview last night. Dude came across playing the victim card way too hard for a guy who has held out and made money a priority.
