We started SportSmasher.com a little over a year ago. One of the first 10 posts we ever did was devoted to Super Bowl Prop Bets. Fast forward to the 2012 NFL season and we are closing in on 1,000 posts and have brought weekly Prop Bet posts your way. What better way to close out what has been a tremendous NFL season for us with a Super Bowl XLVII Prop Bet Special.
Don’t forget to check out our Official Super Bowl XLVII Pick as well!
Hopefully you read our earlier post on the Most Likely Unlikely Super Bowl MVP. And hopefully you laid cash on LaMichael James as 66/1 b/c he is down to 40/1 now! And hopefully you waited on Pitta who moved from 40/1 to 50/1. Value on that one now. I liked the James pick way better at 66/1 than I do at now. But that is a good transition into prop betting for the big game and strategy. I like to throw a couple flyers out there on bets that pay out real well, but limit myself to 3. Outside of the crazy run two years ago where I hit Hakeem Nicks scoring the first TD of the game for like 5 out of 6 weeks, they rarely pay out consistently…. but when they do, its good times.
Super Bowl MVP – Ray Rice 12/1: The QBs are chalk here. And they don’t pay out. Rice has the best chance to go off at the most ideal odds. So I’ll be playing Ray Rice here, along with LaMichael James and Dennis Pitta long shots.
Player to Score First TD – Michael Crabtree: Paying at 8/1. I like #1 WRs whenever I play this one.
Joe Flacco OVER 250.5 Passing Yards: It’s the Super Bowl. He is on fire. I also am going to take Flacco OVER 1.5 TDs.
Ray Rice OVER 67.5 Rushing Yards: I guess I have to take this one if I made him my MVP pick.
Ray Rice will Score a TD in the 1st Half: At +150, I like it.
Torrey Smith UNDER 14.5 Yards on 1st Reception: I just see a WR screen or pass in the flats or short crossing pattern happening. SF will be all over him down field.
Dennis Pitta OVER 45.5 Receiving Yards: LOVE this one. As I mentioned in the other post on unlikely MVPs, SF is not stellar against opposing TE’s and Pitta is actually Flacco’s favorite target. I see a big game out of Pitta.
Ray Lewis UNDER 11.5 Total Tackles & Assists: Never want to bet against the storyline here… but I just don’t think Ray has a ton left.
Colin Kaepernick OVER 232.5 Passing Yards: Take it to the bank! Kaepernick will need to have a nice day. He either gets it early or plays from behind and gets it late… but he gets it either way. Going big on this one.
Frank Gore UNDER 82.5 Rushing Yards: Im documented saying that I think LaMichael James has a very nice day… and that doesn’t happen if Gore goes off. So I’m all in on Gore Unders.
Frank Gore UNDER 17.5 Receiving Yards: See above.
LaMichael James OVER 27.5 Rushing Yards: BIG fan of James. I think he is a starter in this league and proves it tomorrow night.
LaMichael James Scores a TD: +300!!!
Michael Crabtree UNDER 6 Receptions: I think 6 is about right actually. His yardage is tough to guess too… not touching too much of Crabtree in this game.
Vernon Davis OVER 3.5 Receptions: Davis will have to play a role and he seems to be clicking with his QB again. I actually like Davis a bunch in this game. Only reason I don’t have in MVP conversation is that the NFL would love to give Kaepernick that award… so none of his WRs have a shot.
LaMichael James +5.5 Rushing Yards vs Bernard Pierce: James will get the opportunities to be a factor.
Dennis Pitta +4.5 Receiving Yards vs Vernon Davis: Gut call on Pitta blowing up.
Patrick Willis will get First INT of the Game: At 16/1… why not.
Now for some fun ones…
How many times will Jack Harbaugh be shown on TV during the game? OVER 2.5: Are you kidding me? They will have a camera on him at all times. This is a lock.
Post Game Handshake… OVER 6 Seconds: B/C BROTHERS DON’T SHAKE HANDS… BROTHERS GOTTA HUG!
If Ray Lewis is interviewed on TV after the game on the field or in the locker room how many times will he mention “God/Lord” OVER 3: Another mortal lock!
What will happen with the Dow Jones the day after the Super Bowl? MARKET UP: The Dow has been on fire lately and is underatted. Though I question the Dow’s motor at some times and I think the Dow takes plays off… The Dow has the tools to be successful and has been playing at a high rate lately. In all seriousness, it has.
BONUS: Delanie Walker is the backup tight end on the 49ers, but he is a very good player, and they use him around the goal line a lot. He is 22/1 odds to score the first touchdown. I’m all over it.
