What’s up everybody?? I’m Sportsmasher.com’s new newest blogger. I’ll be mostly blogging on Pro Wrestling and other nonsense.

It’s January, so we are officially on the “Road to Wrestlemania”. I’m giving my predictions for this year’s Wrestlemania card, even though its still three months away and everything will probably change.
We still have the Rumble & Elimination Chamber PPVs, but here are some early predictions (assuming most of the current champions retain until then):
1) WWE Championship Triple Threat: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson © v. CM Punk v. John Cena
a. I’m assuming that they want the Rock to headline ‘Mania as champ and not just do another Rock/Cena heads up match. This pick may seem kind of obvious… all three will be involved in main events of Wrestlemania and I’d pay to see this one (I already did pay… I will be in attendance).
2) World Heavyweight Championship: Champ v. Rumble Winner is what I think is going to go on here, but that’s a cop out, so I’m going with… Alberto Del Rio © v. Randy Orton.
a. Complete shot in the dark here, but I’m going to say that RKO wins the Royal Rumble and then completes his heel turn that they’ve slightly hinted at. Both spots are completely up for grabs, as Ziggler could cash in his MITB briefcase finally before ‘Mania and take the belt off of Del Rio when he’s done with his current issues with Cena. If Ziggler being in this match is the current idea, then I think a face wins the Rumble (I’m leaning towards Daniel Bryan or unfortunately Sheamus… even though I really don’t want the inevitable break up of Team Hell No to happen yet). If Ziggler isn’t in the plans for this match, then I think that he cashes in the MITB briefcase after it’s over to “Steal the Show”. Also, we’ve seen heel Del Rio v. face Orton before and I’m over it.
b. As I said, I think the Rumble winner challenges for this title, so if a face or Del Rio are still champ, I think we see the likes of Orton, Antonio Cesaro or a returning Mark Henry win the Rumble. If Ziggler is the champ at this point, I think we see one of Sheamus or Ryback (Uggh to both) or Daniel Bryan win the Rumble to challenge him.
3) Undertaker Match: Undertaker v. Sheamus
a. I really wanted to say Randy Orton in the Sheamus spot and if I didn’t already predict him above, that’s where I would be going. I’d much rather see Del Rio/Cesaro or Ziggler/Bryan for the WHC and then get Undertaker v. Orton.
b. I could easily see them do Undertaker v. Lesnar v. HHH. Storyline goes as HHH comes back, Lesnar also comes back to taunt him about breaking his arm… lights go out because Undertaker and HHH respect each other, and you know the rest.c. Why Undertaker v. Sheamus? I have nowhere else to put Sheamus and he’s HHH’s homeboy.
4) Lesnar Match: Brock Lesnar v. HHH II
a. It’s a biggest PPV of the year and they have Lesnar under contract for a certain amount of dates. Character HHH needs revenge and Real Life HHH has a huge ego and will probably want to be involved in Wrestlemania.
b. If no HHH, maybe Ryback? I do need something for him to do. Speaking of that…
5) United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro © Ryback
a. This match and the Intercontental match are impossible to predict three months out, but as I said, I need something for Ryback to do. I understand that he just headlined a few PPVs, but they’ll need to get him on the card. Maybe he’ll still be fighting off the Shield, fighting Lesnar or something else… but he’ll be involved. This is a future WWE Championship match. Cesaro is a beast and we now have confirmation that he can nail his finisher on anyone outside of the Big Show after he did it to Khali on Raw.
6) Intercontinental Championship: Wade Barrett © v. a Returning Star… Christian?
a. Again, these are impossible to predict. If Barrett is still the champ, he’ll come out insulting former champs and legends just to bring someone out to fight him… and I pray that it’s not Jerry Lawler or someone that’s constantly hanging around like Mick Foley or Roddy Piper (I’d be cool with Flair). Is Christian due back any time soon? They could throw him in if he is, but if not… I’m going with none other than my all-time favorite Y2J! There are always rumors of Jericho coming back and I love it every time he does.
7) Grudge Match: Daniel Bryan w/ Dr. Shelby v. Kane w/ Paul Bearer
a. Ok, I’m just throwing this out there. These two will eventually feud. I love them both and even more so as a team, but they will eventually fight like Kane does with whoever he is friendly with.
8) Tag Team Championship: Team Rhodes Scholars © v. winner of pre-show tag team battle royal (Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins of the Shield)
a. I’m guessing above that they break up Team Hell No, so I need a champ… Team Rhodes Scholar are the obvious choice right now
b. They usually do a pre-show match to get more guys involved, so I’m going with the tag team division.
9) Divas Championship: I don’t care… some combination of Eve, Layla, Tamina, Kaitlyn and Natalya?
10) Pre Show Tag Team Battle Royal
a. As I said above, this gets more guys onto the card
b. Teams involved (the Shield, 3MB, Prime Time Players, Usos, Ryder & Santino, R-Truth and somebody, Mysterio and somebody, Tyson Kidd and somebody)
c. I am guessing that the Shield is involved in a higher up storyline than this by the time that ‘Mania rolls around, but if they’re in the mix for the belts, they’ll win it.
I realize that there are a ton of wildcards and that I’m leaving a ton of guys off of the card. I have nothing for the following guys to do right now: Big Show (is he hurt? Why else would he drop the WHC on a taped Smackdown?), Miz, Ziggler (if he’s not the WHC by then, otherwise he’s definitely in a big match), Kofi, Brad Maddox (his character has to be going somewhere), David Otunga and FANDANGO. I highly doubt that Ryback will be going for a minor title and the Shield better be doing more than getting involved in the tag team mix. There are just many too old guys to throw at the top of the card right now (Rock, Taker, Lesnar, HHH).
Those are my thoughts as of early January 2013. I’ll be back to preview the Royal Rumble and then to update my Wrestlemania card after the Rumble.
Until then… Later
