Daily Mail An Oregon teen has been arrested after he posted a message on Facebook after a night of partying on New Year’s Eve, admitting that he had been driving drunk and apologizing for hitting someone’s car during his booze-fueled escapade. Jacob Cox-Brown, 18, used the social media website to inform his friends that he had been ‘Drivin drunk … classic 😉 but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P. One of his friends saw the post and called police on New Year’s Day, just as officers were in the midst of investigating a hit and run that had damaged two vehicles. When officers came to Cox-Brown’s home in Astoria, Oregon they discovered damage to his car that was consistent with the damage done to two cars hit earlier in the day, according to The Oregonian. Police also found pieces from the teenager’s car at the scene of the crash. Another friend of the teen had also called police to inform them of the Facebook posting. Cox-Brown was arrested and has been charged with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver. He has been released on his own recognizance. He cannot be charged for DUI because officers cannot prove that he was in face intoxicated when he was operating the vehicle.
Another reason why there needs to be a high school course called “Social Media: Dos & Don’ts” where they tell you (among many other things), NEVER admit to crimes on Facebook, because some cunt person that you used to be friends with is going to report you. How many of my friends on Facebook do I actually talk to? 95% of them are strange people that I went to high school or college with that I wouldn’t recognize if I bumped into them on the street. I’m 100% sure that if I admitted to a crime on Facebook, some pussy who I made fun of drunk freshman year of college would see the post, and instantly call the police. Plus, smiley faces in your Facebook posts dude, are you serious? Dude, are you gay? You deserve do do hard time just for that!
