As a Knicks fan, Iman Shumpert is one of my favorite players in the NBA, his athleticism and abilities as a defender brought a whole new dimension to the team during his rookie season in 2011 and the future looked incredibly bright for the young guard. I witnessed how good Shumpert could be in person at a game at Madison Square Garden where the rookie guard dominated an Orlando Magic team lead by All-NBA Defensive First-Team center Dwight Howard to the tune of 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, in which several of the points scored on dunks on or shots over Howard. Stardom was in Shumpert’s future.
Unfortunately, during the first round loss to the Miami Heat in the playoffs last season, Iman Shumpert tore the ACL in his left knee and has not returned to action yet. Although Shumpert will likely not return to full strength until the playoff run this season, when he eventually returns to action he will bring the Knicks youth and athleticism, two virtues that this team desperately lacks. Some Knicks fans believe that Shumpert will return from his knee injury sometime during December, but with the team playing well without him, I would bet he returns closer to the All-Star break.
The good news is, while Shumpert has been out, he has been wowing fans with his incredible high top fade and choice of outfits on the Knicks bench. You are absolutely killing it Iman, get back on the court soon, but until then keep rocking the fade!
