One player that may not yet be on your fantasy radar and could help you win a championship is Cecil Shorts of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Shorts is a big play WR that didn’t have the preseason star power of his counterpart Justin Blackmon but has been putting up major numbers lately. Winning your fantasy football playoffs is all about getting hot at the right time and riding players on the upside of their season… that’s exactly what Shorts is! Let’s get into a few reasons he is a must add/start going forward:
He’s on Fire! – Since the bye week, Shorts has had at least 3 receptions in every game and scored a TD in 4 of 6 games. He is over 100 yards in 3 of those 6 games and only under 79 yards just once. He is as hot a WR as there is right now in football.
Chad Henne Factor – I never thought I’d be writing this… but Henne is making a huge difference for that team. Since Henne took over in week 10, Cecil Shorts has scored in all 3 games played. Shorts is over 100 yards in 2 of those games with his lowest total with Henne being 81 yards.
Schedule Matters – Jacksonville has a great schedule for Shorts to make a big impact in your fantasy playoffs. For those needing a win this week, they play in Buffalo where we have seen a ton of high scoring games this year. Then the Jags finish with the Jets, Dolphins, Patriots, and Titans. All games that set up very nicely for Shorts to continue his hot streak.
Our recommendation: If you are in a league where Shorts isn’t owned yet… pick him up. If he is on your bench, start him. This is exactly the kind of player that can win fantasy championships… especially in deeper leagues.
