ESPN The University of Maryland’s Board of Regents voted Monday to accept an invitation to join the Big Ten and begin competition in the conference in the 2014-15 academic year, sources told ESPN. An afternoon announcement will be made in College Park. Meanwhile, Big East Conference sources told ESPN that Rutgers will be announced as the 14th member of the Big Ten on Tuesday.
This is strange to me, Rutgers and Maryland joining the Big 10 Conference does not seem right, and this conference realignment seems like it will really be damaging to rivalries.
When I think of the Big 10, I think of the Midwest, snow, corn, farmers, cows, football, fat people with cheese hats on their heads, and Pauley Shore in “Son-In-Law”. Tiffani Amber-Thiessen was so hot in that movie:
When I think of Maryland I think of the beach, eating crabs and old bay, basketball, getting drunk on a raft at Seacrets bar in Ocean City and staring at titties.
Kind of the opposite. So I guess that’s why I do not like the move for Maryland.
As a native New Jersey-ian it will be cool to see Rutgers taking on Big 10 opponents like Michigan and Ohio State, its just strange that those teams will be playing on the coasts, and not in the middle of the country where they have traditionally played.
